What are the objectives of the Agroecology Courses?

In this video,  the late Parthiba Basu, a co-creator of the Course, explains that the primary goal is to transform our farms and food systems sustainably. The Course aims to increase productivity, sustainability, and resilience in food systems by applying the principles of agroecology.

What platform is used for the online portions of the Course?

Online sessions use Zoom. Ensure that your laptop has a stable internet connection.

What is the schedule for the online lectures?

For the 3 month course on Agroecology, the online lectures run Monday to Friday, with two daily sessions: 11:00 am–1:00 pm and 2:00 pm–4:00 pm.

For the 4 month Weekend only Course on Agroecology, the online lectures run Saturday and Sunday, with two daily sessions: Saturday: 11:00 pm–1:00 pm and 2:00 pm–4:00 pm and Sunday: 11:00 pm–1:00 pm

What is the time commitment required for the 3 month Course on Agroecology?

For the 3 month course on Agroecology, Online: 6 hours daily, 5 days a week (4 session hours, 2 assignment hours) and Fieldwork: Full-time during the week with designated partners. Sundays are off. 

Why is a security deposit required?

A non-refundable security deposit of ₹2,000 – 5,000 is required to discourage dropouts and ensure commitment to the programme. Upon successful completion of the course, this deposit will be adjusted against the fieldwork costs (in case of the 3 month course on Agroecology) and returned in case of Courses without a fieldwork component

If a participant drops out or is asked to do so, the security deposit will not be refunded.

Can I choose any location for fieldwork for 3 month course on Agroecology?

Fieldwork can be done only with designated partners, who are all either Alumni of the Multiversity or Welthungerhilfe partners.

Can international applicants or those living outside India apply for the 3 month course on Agroecology?

Yes, applicants residing outside India can enroll and participate in the online sessions from anywhere in the world. However, attendance is required in India for the fieldwork component of the course.

Can I only attend the online portion of the 3 month course on Agroecology Course? 

You must attend all online and fieldwork components.

What if I miss classes or am unable to submit assignments on time?

Attendance and timely assignments are mandatory. Weekly reviews monitor progress. Non-compliance may lead to removal.

Is job placement provided after the Courses?

No job placement is offered, but you will become part of the Alumni network, where opportunities are shared.

Is there local language translation available?

Most of are courses are in English, some courses will specifically designed to be delivered in regional languages.

What are the requirements to enroll in the Course?

For the 3 month Course on Agroecology / weekend only Agroecology Course

  • A Bachelor’s degree (in any discipline) is required to enrol.
  • A plan to apply the learnings from the Course to a specific context (e.g., organisation, neighbourhood, village, community, etc.)
  • Applicants must have access to a laptop and a stable internet connection during the Course.

For the 1.5 month Course on Food Entrepreneurship, one needs to be an entrepreneurs working or running retail outlets, restaurants, FPOs, and food processors etc and allied services.

What is the batch size for the Course?

The batch size for various courses is limited to 20–40 students only.

I work full-time. Can I still attend the full time Courses?

Yes, you can attend the Course while working full-time. You will need to provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your organization. If you are unable to obtain an NOC, you have the option to enrol in our weekend-only course, which is specially designed for working professionals who can not attend full time.
