1.5-Month Course on Food Entrepreneurship for Food Systems Transformation 

Introduction:

This is a six week course in English and is designed to foster innovation and practical business skills in the organic / natural / agroecological food sector. Designed to nurture a new generation of entrepreneurs in sustainable food systems. By combining real-life field experiences, peer learning, and action-reflection methodologies, the Course builds essential skills in participation, observation, systems thinking, and strategic communication.

Participants will gain hands-on knowledge in:

  • Understanding smallholder-focused markets
  • Identifying and engaging key stakeholders across the food value chain
  • Designing viable and ethical business models and brand strategies
  • Learning essential tools for business planning, financial viability, and promotion

The Course is open to entrepreneurs working or running retail outlets, restaurants, FPOs, and food processors etc and allied services. and is free of cost.

Duration: The Course runs for 6 weeks: 4 weeks of online sessions with casework, and 2 weeks of fieldwork.

  • Foundations: Systems thinking, basics of agroecology, understanding markets, and pricing of agricultural commodities.
  • Market Stakeholders: Value chain analysis and sustainable business indicators.
  • Business Tools: Startup essentials, finances, social media, and food business regulations.
